Maths– We will complete our unit on time by looking at start and end times, measuring time by minutes and hours in a day.
Topic – This week in topic we will continue our study of Ancient Greece including a trip to the British Museum to study some artefacts. We will also be doing some diary entries based on our understanding of Greek warfare and famous battles.
R.E. Children continue their learning about Christian charity
PSHE – Children will be learning about body changes
P.E This week the children have their Sport’s Day at Carshalton Boys School. We will also be continuing to refine our cricket skills.
Topic– We will be continuing our plant experients to determine which factor has the biggest impact plant growth and investigate how water travels through a plant.
We will also be learning about the key battles in ancient Greece and why Greek soldiers were so powerful.
Science Day– This Thursday we will also hold our Science Day and spend the day learning the science behind our marble experiment, writing up the experiment, conducting the experiment before sharing our findings.
Maths– This week we continue our unit on time. We will be looking at 24 hour time, finding and comparing duration and measuring time.
RE – We will be looking at Christian charity and designing our own charity
PSHE – We are learning about the changes to our bodies as we grow up.
P.E Outdoor – We will continue our study of dance elements and incorporate these into our dance choreography.
P.E Indoor – We will review specific athletic skills including sprinting and javelin in preparation for our upcoming Sports Day
Topic – In topic this week we continue our Groovy Greek unit with some Greek food tasting. We will learn about the Greek alphabet and try our hand at some pottery. We will also look at plants and their systems.
Maths – This week we will continue our measurement unit with time. Children will revise quarter hours and learn how to tell the time in 5 minute intervals. We will look at duration of time as well as 24 hour time.
PSHE – We will be learning about circles of trust.
RE – We will be learning about the concept of Christian charity and designing our own charity.
P.E. Indoor– We continue our dance unit looking at different ways to sequence movements in dance. Building on previous lessons we will look at the common forms of sequencing movement including repetition, and canon.
P.E Outdoor – In preparation for our sports day we will practise our athletics skills including long jump, discus, javelin and sprints.
Topic/Art week – This week will be art week for the children. The children will be learning about the artist Andy Warhol. They will be doing an artist study and will create an artist study page which includes key facts about the artist. They will have an opportunity at examining some of his famous pieces of work where they will discuss colour, contrast and mood. The children will learn the skill of using different colours for contrast and then will have an opportunity to explore and use different colours. They will then create an image in the likeness of Andy Warhol.
Maths – This week we will continue our exploration of measurement with mass. We will be comparing weight, adding and subtracting mass, converting between g and kg and solving word problems involving mass.
PSHE– The children will learn that babies grow and develop in the mother’s uterus and they will discuss what a baby needs to live and grow.
RE – The children will learn about faith and Jesus’ teachings on it.
Indoor PE – The children will learn about dance and will create a water dance. The first lesson will focus on moving in unison.
PE –Cricket – The children will learn how to throw and catch an underarm pass.
Topic – The children will be learning about Groovy Greeks as their new topic. For their hook day they will have the opportunity to do Greek based arts and crafts. They will also locate Ancient Greek civilisation on a timeline and will show where Greece is and how it fits into the wider world. Children will research the four major states of Ancient Greece and then describe them.
Maths – Children will add and subtract volume and capacity and practise solving word problems before moving onto mass.
PSHE – The children will learn that humans and animals go through lots of change as they grow older.
RE – The children will be learning about faith. They will write a poem and answer questions on faith.
Indoor PE – The children will learn about dance and will create a water dance. The first esson will focus on moving in unison.
Outdoor PE – The children will learn about and practise their cricket skills.
